How to buy IAG on Cardano

To buy IAG: put ADA in a self-custody Cardano wallet, open a Cardano exchange such as Minswap, find the token by pasting its policy ID 5d16cc1a177b5d9ba9cfa9793b07e60f1fb70fea1f8aef064415d114 rather than typing the ticker, enter your amount, sign in your wallet and wait for the order to settle. IAG is the token of Iagon, a storage and compute marketplace built on Cardano. You can also buy it on a centralized exchange that lists it and withdraw on the Cardano network. Either way the last step is the same: check the policy ID of what actually landed in your wallet.

The project

What is Iagon, and what is IAG used for?

Iagon describes itself in its own documentation as a "decentralized marketplace for storage and computing resources" that aims to "simplify and democratize access to the shared storage economy": people with spare disk space run an Iagon storage node as a desktop application and are paid for the capacity they contribute, compute nodes are tiered by performance, uptime, availability and trustworthiness, and anyone without hardware can stake IAG against somebody else's capacity for a share of what it earns (docs.iagon.com, checked September 11, 2026). IAG is the utility token that ties that together. Iagon's own blog lists its jobs as provider staking, holder delegation and fee sharing, subscription boosts, payment for platform services and governance voting (blog.iagon.com). The tokenomics page adds that the token is "designed to be non-volatile and is not intended as a speculative financial instrument", which is the project's framing, not a promise about anything.

Identity

What is the official IAG policy ID?

The policy ID is the 56-character hexadecimal string that identifies the minting policy, and it is the only part of a Cardano token's name that cannot be copied by an impostor. Iagon publishes it on its own tokenomics page: 5d16cc1a177b5d9ba9cfa9793b07e60f1fb70fea1f8aef064415d114

Two exchanges repeat the same string in their own listing notices, which is a useful independent check: Gate's token-swap announcement and Bitget's listing announcement both name it. The full asset identifier adds the asset name in hex, 494147, which decodes to the three letters IAG, giving 5d16cc1a177b5d9ba9cfa9793b07e60f1fb70fea1f8aef064415d114494147. Its CIP-14 fingerprint, the short asset1 form explorers use, is asset1z62wksuv4sjkl24kjgr2sm8tfr4p0cf9p32rca.

Where does IAG trade on Cardano?

IAG has ADA pools on several Cardano exchanges. The list below is what CoinGecko's market data showed on September 11, 2026. Pools open and close, so check the live pool page before you size an order.

Centralized listings

Which exchanges list IAG?

Four centralized exchanges announce IAG on their own pages. Dates below are the ones each exchange published. Nothing here recommends an exchange, and listings get withdrawn as readily as they are added.

If you buy this way, the token is the exchange's until you withdraw it. Withdraw to your own Cardano address, pick the Cardano network on the withdrawal screen, and send a small test amount first. Buying ADA and withdrawing it covers that flow in detail.

The steps

How do I buy IAG, step by step?

  1. Get a wallet and some ADA. Any self-custody Cardano wallet works. Buy ADA wherever you already have an account and withdraw it to your own receive address, test amount first. The ADA withdrawal guide walks through it, and the wallet comparison covers setup.
  2. Keep a few ADA spare on top of what you are spending. Every transaction costs a fraction of an ADA, and a wallet holding native tokens must keep a small ADA balance locked alongside them, so a wallet drained to zero ADA cannot move its tokens.
  3. Open a Cardano exchange and connect your wallet. Type the address or use a bookmark rather than following a link from a message. Connecting lets the site read your addresses; it cannot move funds on its own.
  4. Find IAG by pasting the policy ID. In the token search, paste 5d16cc1a177b5d9ba9cfa9793b07e60f1fb70fea1f8aef064415d114 instead of typing IAG. Several tokens can carry the same ticker; only one carries that policy.
  5. Enter the amount and read the quote. Check the price impact of your order on the pool and the minimum you will receive. If the impact is more than a percent or two, the pool is thin for your size: split the order, or try an aggregator that can route across pools.
  6. Sign, then wait for the batcher. Your wallet shows the ADA leaving and the order being created. After you sign, the order sits pending until a batcher settles it against the pool in a second transaction. The Minswap and DexHunter guide covers that screen, slippage and cancelling a pending order.

After the trade

How do I check that the right token landed?

Open the new token in your wallet, view its details, and compare the policy ID with the one on Iagon's documentation, character by character. Both ends matter: a fake will often share the first few characters. A matching name or logo is worth nothing, because token metadata is off-chain and anyone can submit it for their own mint. Our policy ID verification guide spells out the whole check, and reading a transaction on Cardanoscan shows you the same thing from the chain's side.

One thing that surprises people: because IAG carries six decimals, a wallet that has not picked up the registry metadata will display your balance a million times too large. That is a display problem, not a balance problem, and it usually resolves when the wallet refreshes its token list.

Costs

What does it cost, and how much ADA should I keep back?

Cardano charges a fixed part plus a size-based part: 0.155381 ADA plus 0.000044 ADA per byte of transaction, per docs.cardano.org (checked September 11, 2026). A plain transfer lands near 0.17 ADA and a trade is a larger transaction, so somewhat more. On top of that you pay the pool's trading fee, around 0.3% on Minswap, where the separate batcher fee was removed for users in May 2025 (docs.minswap.org). Keeping roughly five spare ADA in the wallet is comfortable for a first trade. The fee guide explains the minimum ADA that sits locked with your tokens and why it exists. This page is information about how the mechanics work, not financial advice.

Straight answers

Frequently asked

Is the IAG on Cardano the same token as the old Ethereum IAG?

No. Iagon migrated to Cardano and its documentation states that the ERC-20 tokens "no longer possess any functionality". Gate, which held the old token for customers, swapped Ethereum IAG for Cardano IAG at 1:1 and opened trading in the new token on February 1, 2023. If you see an Ethereum contract address for IAG, it is the retired one.

How many decimals does IAG have?

Six, per the Cardano Foundation token registry entry and CoinGecko. So the smallest unit is 0.000001 IAG, and a wallet that has not picked up the registry metadata may show your balance as a whole number that is a million times too large.

Do I have to use a decentralized exchange?

No. Kraken, KuCoin, Bitget and Gate all list IAG on their own announcement pages. The catch is withdrawal: you have to send it out on the Cardano network to control it yourself, and Kraken warns that deposits made on an unsupported network are lost. Buying on a Cardano exchange skips that step because the token is already in your wallet.

Why does the swap sit as pending for a few minutes?

Because a Cardano exchange trade is two transactions. You sign one that creates an order, and a batcher settles it against the pool in a second transaction. See the Minswap swap guide for what that screen looks like.

How do I know I received the real IAG?

Open the token in your wallet after the trade and compare its policy ID with 5d16cc1a177b5d9ba9cfa9793b07e60f1fb70fea1f8aef064415d114, character by character, against the policy ID on Iagon's own documentation. A matching ticker proves nothing, because anyone can mint a token called IAG. Only the policy ID is proof.
