How to buy WMTX on Cardano

The token

What is WMTX?

WMTX is the utility token of World Mobile, a mobile network project whose documentation describes it as "a decentralised mobile network powered by World Mobile Chain", with node operators running the connectivity hardware and earning rewards in the token. That description is the one World Mobile itself registered on Cardano, and you can read it in the Cardano Foundation token registry entry for the token, checked September 11, 2026. This guide only covers buying and identifying it.

Two facts matter before you spend anything. First, WMTX is the second token in this project's history. The original was WMT, minted in 2021. World Mobile's documentation draws the distinction plainly: moving WMT to WMTX inside Cardano is called an upgrade, moving it from Cardano to another chain is called a migration, and the conversion started at 1:1 (faq.worldmobiletoken.com, checked September 11, 2026). Second, WMTX is not only a Cardano token. World Mobile's tokenomics page publishes contract addresses for WMTX on Ethereum, BNB Chain and Base alongside the Cardano policy ID (token metrics and distribution, checked September 11, 2026), and CoinGecko additionally maps the ticker to Solana and Arbitrum. Those versions are not interchangeable. A Cardano wallet holds the Cardano one and nothing else.

Identity

What is the official WMTX policy ID?

On Cardano a token is identified by its policy ID, a 56-character hexadecimal string, not by its ticker. Tickers are not unique. The policy ID below is the one World Mobile publishes in its own token documentation, which links straight to the matching Cardanoscan page.

Venues

Where does WMTX trade on Cardano?

On Cardano itself, WMTX trades on decentralised exchanges against ADA. Minswap runs a WMTX and ADA pool and carries the same policy ID on its token page, both checked September 11, 2026. CoinGecko's market list for the token, also checked September 11, 2026, shows Cardano venues including Minswap, WingRiders, SundaeSwap and CSWAP. World Mobile's own buying post, dated March 10, 2025, names SundaeSwap, MuesliSwap, Minswap, MilkySwap and WingRiders (worldmobile.io). Lists like that age, so treat the live pool page as the answer.

Liquidity is not spread evenly. An aggregator such as DexHunter quotes one order across many Cardano exchanges at once and can split it between pools, which matters more the larger your order is relative to the pool. The Minswap and DexHunter guide walks through both interfaces.

Centralised exchanges list WMTX too. We confirmed listings on the exchanges' own pages for Kraken and KuCoin, checked September 11, 2026. One caution applies to all of them: because WMTX exists on several chains, an exchange may withdraw a version that is not the Cardano native token. Check the exchange's own network list and confirm it sends on Cardano, or what arrives will not carry the policy ID above.

The buy

How do I buy WMTX, step by step?

1. Get a Cardano wallet and some ADA. Any self-custody Cardano wallet works. Buy ADA on an exchange and withdraw it to your own address, sending a small test amount first. The buy ADA and withdraw guide covers that end to end, and the wallet comparison covers setup.
2. Keep spare ADA. You need ADA for the network fee and a little more that stays locked in the wallet alongside any native token you hold. A few spare ADA is enough for a first swap.
3. Open a Cardano exchange and connect the wallet. Type the address yourself or use a bookmark. Connecting lets the site read your addresses; it cannot move funds on its own.
4. Find WMTX by policy ID. In the token search, paste e5a42a1a1d3d1da71b0449663c32798725888d2eb0843c4dabeca05a instead of typing the ticker. Several tokens can share a ticker. Only one has that ID.
5. Read the quote before you sign. Check the rate, the impact your order has on the pool, your slippage tolerance and the minimum you will receive. That minimum is the number to compare between venues, because it is what actually lands.
6. Sign, then wait for the batcher. A Cardano swap is two transactions: yours creates an order, and a batcher settles it against the pool shortly afterwards. Your order shows as pending in between, and you can usually cancel it while it is.
7. Check what arrived. Open the token in your wallet and compare the policy ID character by character. Do not skip this step because the name looked right.

The old token

What about WMT, and do I need to do anything?

If you are buying today you do not need to touch WMT at all. It only matters if you already hold the old token from before the upgrade. WMT is a separate Cardano native token with its own policy ID, 1d7f33bd23d85e1a25d87d86fac4f199c3197a2f7afeb662a0f34e1ecopy and the fingerprint asset1h7jsujzt4s8pup6nrzthr9nhajl0gmwhlzcqw7. It was minted once, in June 2021, with a supply of 2,000,000,000, which you can confirm against the registry entry for WMT, checked September 11, 2026.

World Mobile's documentation says the upgrade portal reopened on December 16, 2024 and will remain open indefinitely, names worldmobile.net/wmtx/upgrade as the only place the upgrade can be performed, states that the browser extension version of Eternl is the only supported wallet for it, and sets a minimum of 5 WMT per upgrade (migration guide, checked September 11, 2026). For WMT on a centralised exchange, the same documentation says exchanges may upgrade it for their users and that you should confirm with yours; WMT in a liquidity position has to be withdrawn and upgraded by hand. Because a portal that asks you to connect a wallet is exactly what a fake site imitates, reach it from the project's own documentation rather than a search result, and never type a seed phrase into a web page.

Costs

What does the transaction cost?

Cardano's network fee is formula-based rather than an auction, so it does not spike when the chain is busy. It is 0.155381 ADA plus 0.000044 ADA per byte of the transaction (docs.cardano.org, checked September 11, 2026), which puts a plain transfer near 0.17 ADA and a swap somewhat higher because the transaction is larger. On top of that you pay the pool's trading fee, and any fee the venue adds. Minswap removed its batcher fee for users, so that line is 0 ADA (docs.minswap.org, checked September 11, 2026).

The part people miss is the minimum ADA that rides along with tokens. Every output holding native tokens must also hold a small amount of ADA, and that ADA stays locked while the tokens sit there. It is not a fee: the ADA belongs to whoever holds the tokens, stays yours while they sit in your wallet, and goes to the recipient with the tokens if you send them away. It does mean a wallet emptied of ADA cannot send its WMTX. The fees guide breaks both down, and the transaction reading guide shows where each one appears on an explorer.
